NHTSA Top Safety Ratings: The Chevrolet Volt

It's hard to not be a fan of an automaker that produces a car which lives up to the hype. Recently, Chevrolet added another award to their stack, this one for the Volt. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just announced the plug-in hybrid earned a perfect five-star overall rating in their series of stringent safety tests.

The award should come as a surprise, really. The new Chevrolet Volt did earn a TOP SAFETY PICK from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IHHS), earlier this year. It does, however, reinforce the fact that Chevrolet didn't sacrifice safety for the sake of innovation when making the plug-in hybrid.
