Post a Virtual Tree Today. Chevy Will Plant a Live One

Many of us can recall planting trees on Earth Day as kids. A few of us might even carry on this tradition today. But, the truth of the matter is, between working; working out; and meeting obligations to family, friends and loved ones, many of us do not. It's too bad, too. For, while we often see trees merely as bark, trunks, branches and needles or leaves - they serve as one of the world's most important air purifiers. Without them, we'd be lost. Thankfully, conscientious organizations, such as Chevrolet, take the time to contemplate such important matters.

The American automaker realizes that while they provide necessary products (i.e., cars, vans, CUVs, and trucks), they're also responsible for helping counterbalance CO2 emissions. One of the ways they're going about doing this is by creating cars such as the Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid and other fuel-efficient models. More recently, they joined forces with the National Forest Association to create a nation-wide, tree-planting initiative.

That's right, recalling yesteryears, Chevy is inviting you to plant a tree...without having to do the actual planting or get dirt wedged under your nails. And because they don't believe such a sacred act should be reserved for just one day, the initiative with last throughout the end of 2012 with up to 175-thousand trees planted in different U.S. National Forests, across the country.

How do you plant a tree without doing a little digging? Good question! By doing a little posting, instead... The initiative is interactive. When you post a tree to your Facebook account, Chevy and the National Forest Association will plant a live one. It's as simple as a few clicks of the mouse. And you don't have to buy the tree, either. Chevy and the National Forest Association are taking care of that, too.
