California Driving Rejoice with the New Low Emissions Chevy Volt

Chevrolet is giving California drivers a reason to fall in love with the Chevrolet Volt. Not that they need a reason. Since the vehicle's inception, members of the Golden State have been seen driving across the sunny coast in the Volt and enjoying every bit of its hybrid electric drive. So perhaps we should've said that our favorite automaker is giving Cali consumers another reason to love the Volt.

Company officials announced that the new 2012 Volt variant will have a low enough emissions rate to qualify for the state's carpool lanes. As exciting as that sounds, Felix Chevrolet hasn't even mentioned the best part. The Volt Low Emissions Package is so eco-friendly that drivers don't even need to haul multiple commuters to gain entry to the coveted lane. Those with the Low Emissions package may drive solo!

Chris Perry, Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing, notes the significance of this privilege in a state where daily traveling can be quite hectic. "The Volts with the Low emissions Package are certain to be a strong draw for California commuters looking to travel the state's notoriously congested freeways in the carpool lane."1

Chevrolet researchers found that some parts of California roads are so hectic that driving in the carpool lane can actually shave off 36 minutes from a typical commute. Adding a bit more flavor to the already sweet deal, consumers who purchase the Volt Low Emissions Package are eligible to receive a $7,500 federal tax credit along with a $1,500 California state tax rebate.
