Chevrolet Volt Receives UV Paint

The 2013 Volt was a recent subject of artist Ian Cook, who took a new Chevrolet EV, covered it with UV paint that glows in the dark, and had it shot by photographer Dominic Fraser.

"The idea was to create an image that was as innovative and mold-breaking as the Chevrolet Volt itself, while at the same time keeping in mind its electric powertrain." Cook said in a statement about his art.1

UV paint will not be standard on the 2013 Volt, but the EV will include "EV Hold Mode." This option switches over to the extended-range mode, where a gas-powered generator is used. This is better for situations that involve more highway driving since high speeds drain the plug-in battery quickly.

Volt EV is powered by a 150 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque engine, along with 220-cell, 16 kWh lithium ion battery pack. EPA rates Volt at 94 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) in electric mode.

GM sold 2,289 Volts in March, a monthly record that is more than three times higher than figures from last year. Felix Chevrolet of Downtown Los Angeles was proud to be a part of these results!
